Fantomen Launches Anniversary Celebrations
2020 looms as a year of sentimentality and celebration in Sweden as we lead up to the 70th Anniversary of the Fantomen magazine, first published way back on October 5 1950. We are led to believe that throughout 2020 we will see nostalgic reprints and new surprises. This begins with the very first issue of the anniversary year, which included a very special version of their traditional "Schedule" poster, featuring a previously unseen Jaime Vallve painting (see bottom of page).

X Band Podcast Mentioned in Fantomen 12/2019
Next week Fantomen issue 12/2019 comes out in stores around Sweden. Every issue features a short editorial message from Mikael Sol which is similar to the Message from the Publisher Frew readers see from Dudley Hogarth. What makes this editorial message so cool for us is that he focuses on Chronicle Chamber's X-Band: The Phantom Podcast! Now we are very vocal and proud of what it has become, and we are very happy and ecstatic we get a good shout out in the popular Swedish mag

Spotting the Easter Eggs in Jungle Love
There is lots to love about Frew's 70th Anniversary Trade Paperback, released in Australia in the second half of 2018, but one thing we reckon all phans would have enjoyed is ferreting out all the Easter Eggs in the Pidde Anderson / Shane Foley story Jungle Love. Pidde's script was a fun, light-hearted sequel to Lee Falk and Wilson McCoy's 1950 story The Movie Stars. Artist Shane Foley has clearly gone with the theme and his artwork reflects that tone as well. The creative te

Wendell Cavalcanti Releases Art For Sale
Wendell Cavalcanti is a Brazilian artist who has just started having his cover and story art published by Frew Publications in Australia. We were originally introduced to Wendell in an interview published on ChronicleChamber and we saw his first Phantom work in the story Requiem in the 2019 Annual, released in January 2019. You can watch our video review of the annual here (or below at the bottom of this page) and listen here for our podcast review. Wendell's styles seemed to

Göran Semb & Pidde Andersson Talk World Phantom
Those who remembered our podcast interview with Göran Semb back in episode 57 would remember that he had his own podcast talking about comics and pop culture. In his latest podcast (& a future podcast) he is joined with Pidde Andersson. In episode 104 they talk all things Phantom from a writing perspective which makes sense seeing both are highly accredited writers and phans. Pidde Andersson Pays tribute to the Phantom in his Other Work
Egmont publishes many more magazines than Fantomet / Fantomen and one of their other magazines that most Phantom phans would not know off is called 91. In the most recent magazine starting on page 12 there is a short story featuring Sergeant Revär who is barking at a bunch of recruits. The recruits tell Privates 91 and 87 that they've heard a lot about Revär and that he's always been at the regiment. This story runs for three pages. Private 87 then makes up a story about Revä

Introducing Jonny Nordlund: New Frew Cover Artist
In his Message from the Publisher in Frew #1806, publisher Dudley Hogarth relayed some fascinating information about the 'new' cover artist featured on that issue. However, space constraints prevented him from telling the full fascinating story of Jonny Nordlund, so Andreas Erikkson has kindly allowed us to share the tale with you here. Frew readers with a keen eye may have taken a look at issue #1806 and thought that a new cover artist was making his debut. But they would be

Frew to Celebrate 70th Birthday with Very Special TPB

Massimo Gamberi is the creative talent behind the stunning and phestive Christmas-themed cover for Frew's 2017 Christmas Special, currently on sale on newsstands around Australia and winging it's way around the world. 40th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated in Style
As you may know the Phantom got married in 1977, which is 40 years ago! Wow, that is a good innings in today's society even if comic years are different to ours. To celebrate, both Egmont and Frew are releasing special issues. While Egmont Norway and Egmont Sweden (& Finland) have released different covers to celebrate the wedding, the contents are the same with a great selection of Lee Falk stories: the Engagement, Wedding and other romantic stories which of course feature D

New Phantom Art Exhibition in Sweden
Phantom art exhibitions seem to be all the rage these days. We all know of the Tour that Never seems to End downunder, The Phantom Art Show co-curated by Peter Kingston and Dietmar Lederwasch, which recently opened and is currently showing at the Manly Art Gallery in Sydney after a near-three year run around Australia. Then of course, there has been Swede Martin Dahlström’s homage to Wilson McCoy, the Godfather of Pop display, which we have also reported on extensively here o
