The new web comic Phantom 2040 by Comics Kingdom (owned and run by King Features) is now out and they have recently released a 30 minute video interview with one of the writers Alex Segura. It is worth watching and digesting as you learn more about the future of this new web comic. From the 4 minute mark, they start talking about the new Phantom 2040 web comic series. Some of our key takeaways are: Carlos will be wearing the uniform which see's a walking away from the "Walker line". Alex Segura, calls it a walking away from the key lore of the Phantom. Will be interesting how the hardcore fans handle this? The Phantom 2040 cartoon is iconic and, this series uses the same ethos but will be a new version and new Phantom. They mentioned Walkers Table which we assume will be about the Phantoms home in the USA. Could this be the Phantom's home? They want to appeal to the 'hardcore Phantom phan base' but also the new fans. They stressed, they are NOT replacing the Phantom, but adding and expanding. What seems to be a common thread in American comic heroes. Carlos (The new Phantom) is flawed and will overcome tragedy as he becomes the Phantom. In this series' world, the USA has split with soverign states rising which see's a huge wealth disparity. The web comic will be fast paced through out. There will be plenty of easter eggs included. John Amor has history drawing vertical scroll web comics. Melinda who we meet in episode two is a Lois Lane equivilant (Alex Segura words), being a reporter and likely the love interest to Carlos. They did not confirm she will become the love interest, but that is us reading between the lines. Alex Segura's hope is that the series honours the lore of the Phantom. Not the aim to cancel what has came before. Alex Segura does speak very highly on the core Phantom elements and original source stories. Comics Kingdom wants to explore more vertical web comics. Wednesday 24 September 2025, Mad Cave Studios release their first regular feature Phantom comic on the back of their well received Defenders of the Earth comic series. Jermayn Parker and Scott Waldyn review the comic together. We talk about the elephant in the room of the Phantom showing his eyes for us readers plus what the comic does well. At the end of the day, it is a good read. The story is solid and has a definite modern feel to it and we hope for those Falkist phans you give it a go. He's carrying a purple costume, presumably The Phantom's, and is leading the robots on a chase through what we can only guess is the jungle. Carlos runs to the edge of a cliff and is about to meet his end when this world's Phantom (in the Phantom 2040 animated series, it was the 24th Phantom) blasts into the scene, sitting atop a horse that looks very much like Hero. Comics Revue  was a bi-monthly magazine exclusively devoted to reprints of newspaper comics strips including The Phantom, and has been published by Manuscript Press  since 1984. Unfortunately, due to health concerns with publisher Rick Norwood , the magazine has now been cancelled. [EDITORS EDIT: If you would like to buy back issues, please contact the care givers on this Facebook group .] We first reported about this back in March 2025 and since then it has basically been confirmed that the magazine will not continue publication. Thanks to some eager fans we have been able to find the covers that were created for the last two magazines that never saw distribution. The last cover (April 2025) was drawn by Phantom artist Jeremy Macpherson . We cannot confirm if any of these two magazines were printed or not. The last magazine distributed to readers was the December 2024 magazine which featured a cover drawn by Jeremy Macpherson and featured the Phantom, Tarzan and Sir Bagby decorating a Christmas tree in the jungle. In this issue part of the Daily newspaper story " Romance " (also known as " Romance and the Vesta Pirates ") by Lee Falk and Wilson McCoy and part of the Sunday newspaper story " Rex King " by Lee Falk and Sy Barry was included. We assume, the February and April 2025 issues would have been a continuation of the serialised part stories. Rick Norwood has a deep love for newspaper comics and did a great job with this magazine and other publications. Since 2009, Frew colourist and Norwegian fan Ivan Pedersen and Allen Lane were brought on board as associated editors. These additions to the team saw a level of the comic improve. From a Phantom perspective, the addition of Ivan saw him suggesting, picking, editing and colouring some Phantom stories for publication. For the nuffies who want a detailed example of what Ivan Pedersen  did, here is a digitised article that was originally published in issue February 2013 . They all did a great job to ensure Phantom phans and many other fans of newspaper comics had a great niche magazine to enjoy in a modern time of slick comics. Art:9 , a company from Austria, has started publishing a new series reprinting classic Phantom stories starting from the first daily Phantom story " The Singh Brotherhood ". This series will be published in German and will be distributed and sold in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. From what we understand, this will be the first time that a comic series will be published in Austria, which is very exciting news. In the past Austrian shops have sold Bastei comics and magazines, as well as the comic strip being included in Austrian newspapers from the late 1950s to the 1980s. Fantomen 18-19/2025 has become a very popular comic with it selling out in many shops around Sweden and selling in some reseller markets for more than cover price. This comic has also received some positive media attention with an article in the Gothenburg   Post newspaper . The main story features the Phantom and Diana having a holiday in Gothenburg , Sweden . While Diana attends a UN meeting, the Phantom tries to enjoy some downtime by eating at famous Gothenburg restaurants and seeing the sights. However, as always, the Phantom finds trouble and ends up battling bad guys who use seafood (which Gothenburg  is also famous for) as a means to smuggle steriods. Some of the famous sights the Phantom visits while in Gothenburg  are Hisingen , and he also passes Haga Nygata , Park Lane  and the Kometen restaurant. The writer Pidde Andersson lives in Gothenburg and supplied illustrator Janusz Ordon with several real life reference photos for the comic. Thanks to Pidde, we have been able to include the reference photos plus the panels they appear in the comic. Some phans (like us), enjoy the behind the scenes of how comics are made - we hope you enjoy this peak behind the curtain. Kometen Restuarant This restuarant is popular in Gothenburg and according to Pidde and the internet is a popular place for authors, artists and musicians who apparently regularly eat here. Haga Nygata The Haga Nygata is a traditional Scandinavian street in the city, with some traditional timber buildings in typical colours tucked in amongst more modern buildings which includes seafood shops like Sjöbaren Fisk & Skaldjur . Karlatornet (the Karla Tower) Karlatornet was completed externally in 2024 and with its 246 meters (73 floors) it is the tallest building in Sweden and the Nordic region. Hotel Eggers This hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Gothenburg , built in the 19th century. The house is built on the remains of the Johannes Rex bastion , which was demolished around 1810. The hotel's origins are Hotel Christiania , which was started in 1877 and taken over in 1883 by Emil Eggers , who had it rebuilt and modernized, and in 1894 gave the hotel its current name.

Since its March 12th release, fans have been able to step into the role of the Ghost Who Walks in the side-scrolling beat-em-up The Phantom . At least, that was the case for gamers on Steam, Nintendo Switch , and PlayStation . The XBOX release was delayed, initially due to an incorrect development hardware kit provided by Microsoft to Art of Play , the team behind The Phantom game. It's been several months since the original launch date. For Phantom phans who game on XBOX , which includes the writer of this article, Art of Play has offered Steam Keys to provide access to the game while the kinks with Microsoft are worked out. For those who have waited patiently, it looks like the long wait could be ending soon. Art of Play released a statement confirming that in the months between discovering the wrong development hardware kit and today, their team has been actively working to correct the issue with Microsoft . A store-ready build has been with Microsoft for some time, but layoffs at Microsoft threw a wrench in the review and approval process, which stretched the delay further. " I can happily say we now have a final version of the game running through XBOX - firing on their new dev kits and submitted for final review ," Ash Nicholls , Director of Art of Play , recently wrote in an update to XBOX users. " So we are extremely close ." The latest date for an official XBOX launch is October 15, 2025. Thanks to the good folks at King Features Syndicate , we have been sent the official KFS 90th Phantom birthday logo which we can share with the phans. It is great to see King Features Syndicate having a plan for the 90th birthday of the Phantom. We would love to see this logo be used on all comics and products that are released in 2026. A specific logo to celebrate a milestone is not new to the Phantom universe, Fantomen  in 2025 included a logo on all their comics to celebrate their 75th anniversary. The Phantom is no stranger to scholarly articles. In recent memory there has been Kevin Patrick 's, " The Phantom Unmasked ", from 2018 and Robert Aman 's books and numerous articles on the left leaning nature of The Phantom. Renown Australian comic creator, visual media lecturer and a 5th Degree Black Belt holder in ITF Taekwondo, Paul Mason is no stranger to Australian Phantom Phans with his stories often polling well in Chronicle Chamber's yearly "Best Of" lists. However, rather than entertaining readers with his dynamic story telling, Paul is educating with his chapter, " Masks, Southern Crosses and Old Jungle Sayings: Australian Action, Adventure, the Superheroes, and Contributions to a Hidden Genre" that appears in "Folio: Essays on Australian Comics" published by Palgrave Macmillan Cham. The book features a range of essays exploring how Australian comics are made and read and how storytelling over the past forty years has intersected with changing ideas about history, culture, community, creativity and technology. Paul's article explores the impact that comics from the United States and the United Kingdom has had on Australia's comic book making and consumption. Starting from the 1930s when American and British comics made up the majority of comic books on the Australian newsstands, Australian tastes aligned with the familiar characters of Flash Gordon, The Lone Ranger and, of course, The Phantom. As the years progressed, Australian publishers continued to release these types of comics with little to no added Australian identity or flavour. As time progressed Australian creators have begun to incorporate more of the Australian culture into the mix. They don't have the wide ranging cultural appeal of their overseas counterparts, but there is a niche audience who are enjoying this local take on American creations. Not only does Paul's research investigates the history of 'hero' comics in Australia, he also puts forward examples of the modern responses to the genre, utilising his own work such as his creator-owned series, The Soldier Legacy and Frew comics' The Phantom . Not one to rest on his laurels, Paul also has a chapter in the upcoming "Battle Lines Drawn: War Comics since 1914" which is scheduled to be released later this year. His chapter, "ANZACs and AUKUS: The Impacts of War on Australian Comics" discusses the effects of war on Australian culture in general, focusing on comics, beginning in the early 1900s. Both books will be a must have for those whose passion for comics spills over from a form of entertainment to scholarly intellectual discussion. The Phantom actively fosters the mystery and uncertainty around his existence and his abilities. These sayings instill fear in his immediate opponent, spread his legend, project his presence to places he can’t be, and act as a general deterrent. Old Jungle Sayings are phrases or short sentences that have emerged through the oral histories of Bengallan tribespeople over the past five centuries. They are unique to The Phantom and set this universe and character apart from any other comic book story. They can call to mind a myriad of Phantom elements, tropes, and attributes and add to the mysteriousness surrounding him. Lee Falk created over 100 variations in his 60+ years writing the Phantom, and now is your chance to create your own jungle saying.
