Changes to Frew Subscription
Friday 28 May Frew Publications announced some important changes to their subscription service. Back in January 2017 Frew announced that for every subscription they will give them a pack of 9 phile cards for free. The announcement is that from now on, these cards are not free with every subscription. These Frew Philecards are trading card-sized collector cards, showing the cover to every single Phantom comic that Frew has produced, starting at #1. On the back are all of th

Phans Reflect on Rolf Gohs Mastery (1933-2020)
Years to come 25 of August 2020 will always be remembered when we found out that we sadly lost one of the greatest Phantom artists ever in Rolf Gohs. From a Phantom perspective Rolf was awarded ‘Best Fantomen Cover’ (Sweden) on twelve occasions and ‘Best Fantomet Cover’ (Norway) ten times between 1971 & 2012. He drew well over 900 Phantom covers and drawings not to mention the other hundreds of covers, stories and drawings he has done for Scandinavian publishers through out a

The Chain of Patience
Phans love the story but the chain on the throne was only seen once more since the original 1953 story & never again until 1996.

Looking Back at the 2008 Moonstone Cover Competition
Moonstone in 2008 ran a contest for artists to draw a Phantom cover & the winner would get their cover published. Luca Erbetta was fourth.

Frew in the Digital Age
The Phantom may still be living in a cave, but Frew Publications has jumped into the digital age by offering their books as digital comics via the popular ComiXology platform. At this stage it is nothing more than a soft launch with only three volumes available, but word from Frew is that more will be added soon. [ Note: They now sell their digital comics on their own platform instead of ComiXology which you can view and buy here ] Phantom comics have been available digita

Review of Frew Graphic Novel "Sword of Caliph"
Frew's first ever Graphic Novel Sword of the Caliph was released at Frew's booth at Sydney Supanova 2019 and discussed on our X-Band: The Phantom Podcast #121 with a chat with Glenn Ford. Illustrated by Italy’s Giancarlo Caracuzzo and written by Gabriel Henriquez (also wrote Kid Phantom #1), it introduces us to a new villain, who acts as a major adversary for our hero. The volume is 90 pages long, full colour and slightly over sized (like the Swedish Soft Cover Album).

Frew's 2019 Supanova Goodies
Frew have recently established a great tradition of attending the Sydney Supanova comic convention, and an even better one of releasing beautiful items for Phantom phans to enjoy. This post is a wrap up of all the items that Frew have published on their Facebook page, as well as those that Glenn Ford told us about in X-Band: The Phantom Podcast #121 . The Phantom Gallery - Series 2 Trading Cards While they're not necessarily a 'Frew Publications' product as such, the rele

An Exclusive History of Frew Pricing
There was a bit of a rude shock for Frew readers this week, with publisher Dudley Hogarth using the Message from the Publisher in issue #1827 to announce that prices will be rising in 2019: I feel I should let you know that due to rising print production and postal costs it will be necessary in increase our cover price next year. The cost will go up by 25 cents per regular issue and yearly subs will now be $190. To emphasise the change in price, this means that: A regular

Frew Pholio #3 is OUT NOW
Without any phanfare at all (phun intended) Frew has released their pholio #3 quietly on the Frew website. Interestingly, this is the best set so far in my opinion, as it includes international cover art from the popular Phantoms World releases, including yet-unseen published Frew covers from Ömer Muz (Turkey) and Alexandre Jubran (Brasil). This set included five prints that feature The Phantom's World covers, created by four different artists: Alexandre Jubran , Romano F

2017 Frew News Continues to Delight Phans
Frew Publications continue their stellar start to 2017, with the announcement of a third new publication, as well as a free gift to all their fans. On Facebook today , Frew announced that they will soon be bringing the Giantsize Phantom comic back to life. "Giantsize Phantom was an anthology-style comic published by Frew in the late 50’s-early 60’s.
