Last year, to celebrate the Fantomen magazine's 75th anniversary, the Phantom visited Gothenburg in Sweden, and that comic sold out and was a huge hit. To maximise that trend, the editorial team of Jacob Habinc and Andreas Eriksson is returning to the well to have the Phantom visiting Malmö, another city in Sweden in 2026.
Malmö is the third-largest city in Sweden, after Stockholm and Gothenburg, and the seventh-largest city in the Nordic region. Located on the Öresund Strait on the southwestern coast of Sweden. According to reports, Malmö is known for being the city of comics—fitting that our blue hero (purple elsewhere) will be visiting there in 2026.
At this stage there is no information on the creators or even when this story will be published. At a guess, we would suggest it will be included in Fantomen18-19/2026 which is released around the time of the Gothenburg Book Fair.
I am surprised Frew does not use the same marketing trick of having the Phantom visit Australia to coincide with their comic conventions. Shakti could also do the same again with the comic conventions they attend throughout India. Surely even casual fans would buy an extra comic if it features a hero fighting crime in their city.
