New Sy Barry Phantom Album series released from Croatia

The Phantom has rarely been published in Croatia, with a Phantom story published in a 2011 magazine. However, the character has a fairly strong cult following. This is because in the 1970s and 1980s, several publishers in former Yugoslavia published several of their series in the local Croatian language. These comic series were Fantom and Plavi Vjesnik.

Now in 2026, Yugoslavian publisher Oz Comics will be releasing a new Sy Barry and Lee Falk series republishing the Daily newspaper stories in black and white from 1961 to 1963.

This new Phantom series follows the Flash Gordon albums Oz Comics are also releasing, featuring stories illustrated by Dan Barry, Sy's older brother.

Oz Comics does not have a website you can order the album series from, but you can contact them atoz.comics2023@gmail.com or at their Facebook page. We have also found two Croatian websites that sell Oz Comics albums and comics in Stripovi.hr, and Puna Kolica.

The stories likely to be included in this album are:

  • "The Slave Market of Mucar" by Lee Falk and Sy Barry

  • "The Epidemic" by Lee Falk and Sy Barry

  • "The Wharf Rats" by Lee Falk and Sy Barry

  • "The Mysterious Ambassador" by Lee Falk and Sy Barry

  • "The Mystery of the Island of Dogs" by Lee Falk and Sy Barry
