  • New Phantom series for Zauberstern printing Team Fantomen stories starting with 'The Empty Throne' saga

"The Empty Throne" saga was first created in 2016 and is set a few years in the future, with the 21st Phantom separated from Diana Palmer; an earthquake has devastated Bangalla, and the 21st Phantom has disappeared. The first episode takes place one year after the Phantom disappeared, and his adult children Kit and Heloise have to learn how to cooperate and share the role of the 22nd Phantom. The series will be on sale in shops and online from August 25, 2026. Buy issue #1 on Zauberstern website here Zauberstern first made mention of this series featuring Team Fantomen stories back in our 2024 interview with Simeon Hrissomallis and Charles Bone from Zauberstern. This sees more than a Phantom comic per month being published in Germany by Zauberstern on top of other regular comics by ECR Comics with other series by Wick Comics and Comics & Mehr. The last time Germany had regular ongoing Phantom comics like this was in the 1980s. It is a good time to be a Phantom phan in Germany. As per usual, we will include regular reviews on the Chronicle Chamber platforms. This new series will be released every 3 months—four issues a year—and will range from 50 to 70 pages per issue, full colour at 7.99 Euro. To celebrate the release of issue #1, it will feature two covers for sale, including a new cover by Timo Weurz and the original cover created by Henrik Salhstrom as published in Fantomen back in 2016. The first comic will feature two stories: "The 22nd Phantom, Part 1: The Empty Throne", written by Claes Reimerthi, with art by Paul Ryan. It was first published in Fantomen 16/2016 and Frew #1792 (2017). "The 22nd Phantom, Part 2: Baptism of Fire", written by Claes Reimerthi and Alex Saviuk. It was first published in Fantomen 21/2016 and Frew #1793 (2017). Buy issue #1 on Zauberstern website here It is worth mentioning that this series is still being created and published in the Fantomen and Frew comics. So far 14 stories have been published. After the death of Claes Reimerthi, Team Fantomen have hired David Bishop to take over the direction and creation of the series. It has been confirmed that the first 9 albums of this series will feature the 22nd Phantom saga. The 10th album will feature other Fantomen created stories. For those who have come in late and need a refresher on the series, we have created this attached video of the first seven stories.

  • Phantom drinks review: X-Zero energy drinks and Mustanaamio Maku Brewing & Pyynikin Brewing beer

I am back and reviewing some special drinks that have been released in Sweden and Finland recently! First up we have the X-Zero energy drinks, and then I have dusted off some cans of beer from Maku Brewing & Pyynikin Brewing. It must be noted that I accidentally did not notice the beers were out of date until after reviewing the beer. Did it affect the taste? X-Zero Sweden's Fantomen energy drinks Each container comes with 100 servings and costs €32,90 ($55AUD, $40AUD, 3,800 INR). However, it is worth noting that they do not ship to Australia and the USA. You will need to buy your stash from a Swedish fan. Click to buy Melon Lemonade Click to buy Jungle Burst Click to buy Tropical Ice Note, at the time of reviewing, I did not have the melon lemonade flavour. My favourite flavour is the tropical ice. The drinks do taste best with ice, and be careful you measure carefully, as in one sample I added too much. My favourite flavour of these two is the jungle burst flavour. Melon Lemonade The taste is fresh, sweet and incredibly easy to drink, with a perfect combination of the soft sweetness of ripe melon and the invigorating citrus character of lemonade. Jungle Burst The flavor is fresh, sweet, and easy to drink with notes of tropical fruit and papaya, without being heavy. Mix it ice-cold with lots of ice, and you have a real summer taste and one of our best energy flavors to date. Tropical Ice The Phantom Tropical Ice combines smooth tropical inspiration with a cool, frost-infused sensation for a taste experience that is both vibrant and unforgettable. Expect layered fruity tones balanced by an ultra-cool finish that keeps things fresh from start to finish. Finland's Mustanaamio Maku Brewing (golden ale) & Pyynikin Brewing (larger) beers It must be noted that I accidentally did not notice the beers were out of date until after reviewing the beer. Did it affect the taste? Maybe... You can still buy the golden ale on Maku Brewing's website. Pyynikin Brewing still has a page on their website for more information. However, it is worth noting that they do not ship to Australia and the USA. You will need to buy your stash from a Swedish fan. Click to buy golden ale from Maku Brewing Click for more information on the Pyynkin Brewing larger It is interesting different brewers had the license near the same time. You can buy these beers at grocery shops in Finland. Maku Brewing The company details the beer with an alcohol level of 4.5% and it is a very simple and straight-line, golden-yellow, surface-yeast beer. A balanced amount of mild sweetness in the light malt and the light citrusiness. Crispy, dry, and very strong drinkable! At RateBeer.com, it has been given a 3.1 rating out of 5. This drink didn't have as much flavour as other golden ales. That could be because of the energy drink's aftertaste or it being out of date. Pyynkin Brewing Most people I know in Sweden drink a larger. It is worth noting this is a blonde or light larger than what I am used to. It is still drinkable. If there are any Swedish fans out there that are wanting to sell empty (or full) cans of the beers and/or packs of the energy drinks for collectors overseas who want to add them to their collections, please let us know. We can then inform the collectors who have made room to put them in their skull caves. Stay hydrated everyone!

  • Mad Cave Studios' 'The Phantom Vol. 1' Releases July 14th

The Phantom Vol. 1 trade paperback cover by Russell Olson Did you miss the first 5 issues of The Phantom from Mad Cave Studios? This series, which launched with The Phantom taking on the Singh Brotherhood, has been collected in a digital and physical trade paperback edition. You can order your copy here Back when The Phantom #1 released, controversy ignited across the fandom, as Kit Walker's face was revealed in a few panels during a Skull Cave sequence with Diana Palmer. We covered this controversy in our X-Band: The Phantom Podcast review of the issue. The fantastic team at Mad Cave Studios listened to feedback from the fans, and in the following issues of the series, The Phantom's face was hidden behind shadows. In this new collected edition of The Phantom Vol. 1, these early panels from the first issue have been updated. Shadows obscure Kit Walker's face, in keeping with classic Ghost Who Walks tradition. You can learn more about this decision in our latest interview with series artist Russell Olson. The Phantom Vol. 1 Details Writer: Ray Rawkes Artist: Russell Olson Letterer: Taylor Esposito Synopsis: THE GHOST WALKS AGAIN! The Phantom returns! Created by Lee Falk in 1936, the Phantom is one of the first costumed super heroes in history, with untold influence on pop culture. Now, critically-acclaimed creators Ray Fawkes and Russell Olson revive the character for fans old and new. When a violent gang of smugglers stubbles on an idyllic Bandar village, the peace that the Phantom has brought to the African nation of Bangalla will suddenly shatter. It will take all of the Phantom’s many skills — and allies — to restore it. The most exciting series of the year starts here! The first of two known Mad Cave Studios collected editions Back in March, we reported the appearance of a Simon & Schuster listing for a deluxe hardcover edition of The Phantom Vol. 1. While also labeled "volume 1," this collection included the three one-shots that come after the 5-issue miniseries, which include The Phantom vs. The Sky Band #1, The Phantom vs. The Red Dragons #1, and the soon-to-be-released The Phantom vs. The Singh Brotherhood #1. The deluxe hardcover for The Phantom Vol. 1 will release on December 15, 2026 (assuming this date is still accurate). This means any Ghost Who Walks fans who missed the single issues for The Phantom will be able to catch up by the end of the year! All caught up? Watch our reviews and tell us how you felt about this new take on the Phantom! At Chronicle Chamber, we love engaging with the fandom, and we always want to hear your thoughts on the series. Below, you can watch our video reviews for the first 5-issue miniseries, as well as the two one-shots that are currently available at your local comic book shop. • The Phantom is returning to Sweden for a visit

Last year, to celebrate the Fantomen magazine's 75th anniversary, the Phantom visited Gothenburg in Sweden, and that comic sold out and was a huge hit. To maximise that trend, the editorial team of Jacob Habinc and Andreas Eriksson is returning to the well to have the Phantom visiting Malmö, another city in Sweden in 2026. Malmö is the third-largest city in Sweden, after Stockholm and Gothenburg, and the seventh-largest city in the Nordic region. Located on the Öresund Strait on the southwestern coast of Sweden. According to reports, Malmö is known for being the city of comics—fitting that our blue hero (purple elsewhere) will be visiting there in 2026. At this stage there is no information on the creators or even when this story will be published. At a guess, we would suggest it will be included in Fantomen18-19/2026 which is released around the time of the Gothenburg Book Fair. I am surprised Frew does not use the same marketing trick of having the Phantom visit Australia to coincide with their comic conventions. Shakti could also do the same again with the comic conventions they attend throughout India. Surely even casual fans would buy an extra comic if it features a hero fighting crime in their city.

  • Review: 'Phantom 2040: A New Shadow' Episode 20

This is it, Phantom 2040 fans! Episode 20 of Phantom 2040: A New Shadow is the grand finale of what we now know is only the first season for this Comics Kingdom series from writers Alex Segura and Michael Moreci and artists John Amor and George Kambadais. In this concluding episode, The Phantom (Carlos Oserio) battles against his monstrous new nemesis, Anti-Phantom (formerly Charles Tyrus). Meanwhile, Melinda works to shut down Maximum Inc.'s energy transference device that's destroying the Ghost Jungle. Read Phantom 2040: A New Shadow Episode 20 here. This episode is a colorful display of all of the strengths and high points of Phantom 2040: A New Shadow. The action, paneling, and transitions between scenes have a great rhythm and flow. We close the loop on a few story threads as well. Tyrus has fully transformed into the Anti-Phantom, and Carlos has crossed the last hurdle in order to fully embrace the mantle of The Phantom. Is the narrative a little clunky? Perhaps. There certainly are some missteps and missing pieces of the puzzle, but for all of the criticism we've expressed for this series, the high points exceed the low. With season two incoming, we're eager to see where the creative team takes this new cast of characters, especially they have been established. Phantom 2040: A New Shadow Episode 20 art by John Amor Question for the Phans: What are your thoughts on season one? Let us know by commenting below this article, on our YouTube, or by dropping us a line. We'd love to hear your thoughts!

  • 2026 softcover album cover released (featuring "The Singh Brotherhood" & "The Sky Band" - out in August 2026)

As announced in May 2026, to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Phantom, Egmont will be releasing a reprint of the first two Phantom stories in their 2026 softcover album. The softcover album series has been published by Fantomen since 2015 and is a yearly collection of Lee Falk-created themed stories. The book is titled "Kampen mot Singhpiraterna" which translates to "The Fight against the Singh Pirates". The softcover album will be available to ship in August 2026, and you can now preorder the books with the below links. Preorder book with Adilbris Sweden Preorder book with Wessmanbok Preorder book with Adilbris Norway The cover features artwork by Henry Johannes (full name Henry Johannes Matilainen) who is a Swedish artist who has created Phantom artwork since 2024. We are looking for someone to review the book for us; if you are keen to help, please contact us at ChronicleChamber@gmail.com. Eagle-eyed phans may notice a similar theme with this cover that follows the same theme as a cover by Jaime Vallve which was published in 1975 "Stora Jubileumsboken" as a Swedish album to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Swedish Fantomen comic book. It was published both as a hardcover and a softcover book. In 2016, Sal Velluto and Eugenio Mattozzi, used the Vallve cover for the basis of their new cover, which was slightly changed to be more consistent with the events in the actual story. Past themes of the softcover albums are: The man who cannot die (2016) Wedding stories (2017) The Phantom v pirates (2018) Noir style stories (2019) Rough on roughnecks (2021) Cowboy Phantom stories (2023) Prince Rex (2024 and 2025) Our past reviews of the Singh Brotherhood & Sky Band Phantom stories Matt Kyme during COVID reviewed these stories for us on our X-Band: The Phantom podcast. You can watch the reviews of the stories in the video below.

  • Fantomen 14-15/2026 celebrates the Phantom's 90th birthday

What better way to celebrate the Phantom's birthday than with a celebrational story featuring Lee Falk's other hero—Mandrake the Magician? Fantomen 14-15/2026 was released June 24, 2026 and features a double issue with 124 pages of full colour with an amazing cover by Henrik Salhstrom and three (maybe four) stories. The stories are: "Hur det hela började" (part of "The Spark") by Tony DePaul and Mike Manley "Intrikata intriger" ("Intricate intrigues") by Pidde Andersson and Alex Saviuk "Systrarna Marshall" ("The Marshall Sisters") by Lee Falk, Ray Moore, and Wilson McCoy "Vi står emot ondskan" ("The Commander Will See You Now") by Tony DePaul and Jeff Weigel The birthday magazine also includes a poster of a silhouette of Mr Walker in a famous running pose by artist Jan Håfström. It also features several editorial articles celebrating the Phantom, which are a great educational read for those who may have come in late. The first (part) story is the two weeks from the 268th Daily story, "The Spark" which features a detailed two-week "For those who came in late" retelling of the origin of the Phantom. This was drawn by Mike Manly. This is a great introduction and follows the tradition of Frew comics in the 1970s and 1980s when they featured a "For those come in late" in every comic. It must be remembered that any comic could be a fan's first Phantom comic. The second story, "Intrikata intriger" ("Maze of Intrigue") by Pidde Andersson and Alex Saviuk is the flagship story of this issue. The title sounds like a movie title created by Alfred Hitchcock. Both Andersson and Saviuk are fan favourites and they bring a fun crossover story of Lee Falk's two creations. If I had to be critical, it would have been nice to have both featured in their costumes in more of the adventure. Yes, Mandrake in his classic-style top hat and coat is not practical, but it is iconic. Every birthday needs a reflection of the past, and this issue is no different with a reprint of a classic Wilson McCoy and/or Ray Moore drawn story featuring the Marshall sisters. Are they baddies? Surely they cannot be friends to the Phantom or Diana? In our past interview with Andreas Eriksson and Jacob Habinc (X-Band: Phantom Podcast #293 - Fantomen 2025), we asked if they would follow the lead of Tony DePaul and change the Unknown Commanders' office like the newspaper stories. The story has now been published in their magazine, so surely the office renovations has to follow in their created stories from now on?
