Gold’s article talks about the legacy of the character, none of which will be news to phans. What makes it interesting, however, is that Gold seems to be a relative ‘outsider’ to the Phantom which makes his perspective on the characters longevity rather interesting. Gold also discusses the slew of creative talent that has worked on the character and how he continues in both newspapers and comic book to this day.
